Richard started tattooing the wrong way, in his house on friends, but soon realized this wasn't doing anybody any favors. In Atlanta in 1997 he finally convinced Robert Meyers at Body Images Tattoo to take him under his wing with a formal apprenticeship. He worked there for two years, before moving on to House of Color with Darren White, who remains a friend to this day, and certainly helped Richard with his tattoo work. After that he moved on to work with Cap Szumski at Timeless Tatoo, an amazing experience, to which he feels very fortunate, and enjoyed being tattooed by Cap. After that, a break that took him to Tucson Arizona, where he worked at numerous tatoo studios, prominently with Keely Tackett at her two studios there, and also at her studio in Costa Rica! Excellent. Richard went on to backpack in Peru, sampling exotic hallucinogens, but eventually returned to the States.
He moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where he was fortunate to land a job with Brian Reaid at Ace of Spades Tattoo. There for a couple years, and after all the moving around was ready to open his own studio, Bliss Tattoo, which he had for 12 years. Recently he has moved the shop to Swannanoa and renamed it IRON WOLVES TATTOO! Richard is very grateful to all his amazing clients over the years who have given him the opportunity to make quality tattoo work on skin for most of his life.
Love and Thanks!
